Press Release
Entone Amulet And Hydra Integrated With Latens Conditional Access
February 3, 2009
Market Leaders Enable IPTV Over Existing Home Coax Cabling
San Mateo, California, & Atlanta, Georgia, February 3, 2009 – Entone, Inc., the IPTV connected home company, today announced that their Amulet™ IPTV receiver and award-winning Hydra™ IP video gateway are successfully integrated with Latens software Conditional Access security system. This collaborative effort will enable telcos to quickly and easily deploy a more efficient and enhanced IPTV solution.
Amulet and Hydra are part of Entone’s Connected Home Solution that eliminates the need for multiple set-top boxes or new home wiring to deliver IPTV services. Entone’s solution enables service operators to distribute video signals throughout the home without the costs or installation complexities of putting a set-top box in every room or rewiring the home. This dramatically improves the business case for IPTV services by reducing the CAPEX and OPEX associated with IP video deployment.
Latens award-winning IPTV smartcardless Conditional Access system (CAS) is designed specifically to help reduce risk, deployment time and costs as IOC’s and Telco operators deploy IPTV services across their network. Robust, field tested and approved by the major studios, Latens CAS is successfully deployed in over 100 operators worldwide.
“Entone’s traction is due not only to our field-proven platform but also from our collaboration with best-of-breed partners such as Latens,” stated Mark Evensen, VP of Product Development at Entone. “Our tightly integrated IPTV solution will enable operators to go to market faster while minimizing installation cost and complexities of deploying IP video services. We are delighted to be working with such a world-class partner.”
Entone’s Amulet and Hydra support both SD (480i/480p) and HD (720p/1080i/1080p) signals, as well as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 (H.264/AVC) and VC-1 compression formats. They also support whole home networking technologies such as HomePNA, HomePlug, and 802.11n which enable high speed delivery of rich media throughout the home using existing coax wiring. These customer premise equipment (CPE) also come with several advance service options including modular Digital Video Recorder (DVR) with up to 1 Terabyte of storage, integrated Caller ID, and an ATSC tuner for receiving over-the-air broadcast television.
“Entone’s Amulet and Hydra are ideal for operators ready to deploy IPTV. Individually the economic advantages of Entone’s CPE and Latens’ products are highly attractive, and combined we have a solution that will be extremely compelling,” said Jean-Paul Heron, Client Integration Manager, Latens. “Our continued partnership with Entone, and integration with the Hydra and Amulet further solidifies Latens expertise in providing a fully secured connected home environment. We are pleased to join forces with Entone and expect that this will further help consolidate Latens position as the most powerful, flexible and cost-effective solution in the marketplace for the secure delivery of IP video.”
Entone’s award-winning Hydra is the only IP video gateway commercially deployed in the market today that can deliver up to three independent video streams, with a combination of SD/HD, MPEG-2, and MPEG-4 (H.264/AVC) signals over a DSL or fiber access network.
Entone’s Connected Home Solution provides a platform for delivering broadcast television and enabling media sharing throughout a networked home using existing in-home coax cabling. Users can watch live TV or enjoy simultaneous recording and playback from any TV in the home with just a single device. Entone enables a true connected home experience that offers operators additional revenue streams while providing users with added benefits and viewing flexibility.
